Queen’s Park 0 Rangers 3

Rangers Under 15’s ended their season with a comfortable win against Queen’s Park at Lesser Hampden tonight. The home side had the better of the first period and just before the midway point they were awarded a free kick twenty-five yards out which was hit over the wall but straight at Jamie Wilson. Dylan Stevenson then sent a superb pass inside the full back on the left to release Ben Reilly but he shot straight at the keeper when a pass across goal to the unmarked Ryan Hardie may have been the better option.

A long-range effort then gave Jamie Wilson a few problems but the Rangers keeper did enough diving to his left and turn the ball wide for a corner and the first period ended goalless.

Rangers took the lead eight minutes into the second period, Steven Chatterton played the ball forward to Dylan Stevenson on the right, who went past the full back and played the ball across goal to give Ryan Hardie a simple tap in.

A minute later a cross from the right, midway inside the Queens Park half saw the home keeper dive to his left to save Ryan Hardie’s header, when the ball landed back  at the Rangers striker’s feet his shot from a tight angle went across goal and wide of the far post. Midway through the period a poor clearance from the keeper was intercepted by Ryan Hardie and the Rangers striker raced clear, with the Spider’s keeper redeeming himself and diverting the ball for a corner.

Rangers were now dominating and the next effort came when Ben Reilly cut in from the left with the keeper saving low at his right hand post. Ben Reilly then turned creator, coming across field from the left his reverse pass put Ryan Hardie through but he shot wide of the keeper’s right hand post.

Two minutes into the final period Rangers doubled their lead with a fantastic Dylan Stevenson strike, coming off the right hand touchline he sent a unstoppale twenty-five yarder high past the keeper into the net.  Substitute Sam Liddington then played the ball forward to Ben Reilly on the left, who cut into the box and sent a shot across goal and just wide.

The final goal came with just less than fifteen minutes remaining, Ryan Smith played the ball forward to Dylan Stevenson who passed inside to Ryan Hardie, the Rangers striker sending a superb chip from the edge of the box over the keeper and into the net.

Rangers 2 Hearts 2

This weekend’s youth game was the Under 15’s clash with Hearts at Murray Park, it was an entertaining game with the Rangers youngsters coming from behind twice too secure a draw.

The visitors took the lead after only five minutes, the ball was played in towards the edge of the box from the left and the Hearts player won the race to knock the ball over the advancing Jamie Wilson and into the net. Hearts continued to have the upper hand and when  another ball came in from the left the Rangers defence failed to clear with Ross Lyon well placed to clear from the line.

Right at the end of the first period Rangers had a great chance to draw level, Adam Wilson’s pass sent Ryan Hardie through on goal only to be denied by the advancing Hearts keeper who made a fine block. The equaliser did come five minutes into the second period, when Ryan Hardie was fouled twenty-five yards from goal Steven Chatterton stepped up to fire over the wall and past the keeper.

The visitors the had a chance when David Brownlie was caught in possession just outside his own box but the Hearts player’s shot was weak and Jamie Wilson saved comfortably. Hearts next chance came from a run along the left hand byline and from the shot from a tight angle Jamie Wilson saved with his legs.

With ten minutes of the period remaining Hearts took the lead, when a free-kick near the byline on the left was fired goalwards Jamie Wilson failed to hold on to the shot and the rebound was converted from close range. Rangers replied when Adam Wilson played the ball out to Ben Reilly on the right, a neat piece of skill took him past two defenders with his stabbed effort going narrowly wide of the far post.

A minute later Dylan Stevenson went past the full-back on the left and headed for the byline, his low cross made its way to Ben Reilly at the back post and his shot was deflected just wide of the keeper’s right hand post. As the game entered the last ten minutes a superb first touch on a long ball from Ryan Hardie took him clear on the left, his shot from almost on the byline flashed across goal.

Barely sixty seconds later Rangers equalised, Adam Wilson won the ball thirty yards out and passed to Dylan Stevenson, from his passRyan Hardie’stouch took him clear of the defence and into the box to fire past the keeper. The Rangers striker then had a chance to win it, latching on to Sam Liddington’s ball over the defence he shot high and wide.
