David Hagen Benefit Match

Falkirk/Hearts XI 0 Rangers 4

On the final whistle at Hamilton a quick dash got us to The Falkirk Stadium in time for the 4pm kick-off for the David Hagen Benefit Match. The match was between a Falkirk and Hearts youth select against Rangers Under 20’s. The scheduling for the game meant there was a disappointing attendance.

Rangers threatened early when Dapo Mebude advanced down the right and his ball into the box found Liam Burt but he shot high over. On the twenty-minute mark Stephen Kelly’s pass inside Josh Doig allowed Liam Burt to break into the right side of the box but he was denied when Brett Young came off his line to block the shot.

Just after the hour mark Dapo Mebude in possession on the right passed inside to Stephen Kelly, his turn and shot forced Brett Young to save low to his right. The select side had a chance when Rangers failed to clear and the ball fell for Marky Munro whose shot was parried by Robbie McCrorie who gathered in the ensuing scramble.

Just before the break Jack Thomson tried his luck from fully thirty yards and the shot beat Brett Young high to his left but came back of his left hand post.
