15’s Beat Killie

Rangers 3 Kilmarnock 0

Rangers Under 15’s had a comfortable win over Kilmarnock at The Hummel Training Centre this afternoon. Once they established a two goal lead by the half hour mark there was little doubt of the match outcome.

Rangers first chance came when Zak McKay on the edge of the box laid the ball back to Darren McInally and his twenty-five yarder brought out a fine save from the keeper low to his left. With the twenty-minute mark approaching Killie attacked on the left and when the cross came in Jack McConnell got there just before the attacker to knock the ball clear.

Rangers responded immediately with Darren McInally going past a defender and shooting straight at the keeper from the edge of the box. Kelsey Ewan then played the ball forward and from Connor Allan’s flick on Leyton Dunlop shot just wide of the keeper’s left hand post.

Rangers made the breakthrough on twenty-four minutes, Leyton Dunlop’s pass released Connor Allan and he was brought down as he rounded the keeper, Leyton Dunlop stepped up to convert from the spot. The margin was doubled just after the half-hour mark, a good passing move ended with Zak McKay in possession on the right hand angle of the box, from his a pass into the penalty area a good turn from Leyton Dunlop made the space for him to shoot past the keeper.

With half-time approaching Connor Allan robbed a defender on the edge of the box with the keeper saving bravely at the striker’s feet. There was still time for Zak McKay to deliver a corner from the left and Connor Allan’s header bounced before coming off the keeper’s right hand post.

Ten minutes after the break Dire Mebude fed the overlapping Kelsey Ewan and his drive had the keeper stretching to tip over. On the hour mark Rangers increased their lead, Dire Mebude won the ball on the edge of the box and dribbled past two defenders before slotting past the keeper.

With twenty minutes remaining Connor Allan won the ball on the right, his low cross found Leyton Dunlop who was denied by a save from the keeper diving to his left.
