U18’s Lose To Queens Park

Rangers 3 Queens Park 5

Following on from a 4-1 defeat to West Ham on Saturday Rangers U18’s shipped five goals to Queens Park at The Training Centre this afternoon. Pre-season game or not a Rangers side shouldn’t be losing five goals to Queens Park. It was a fully deserved win for the young Queens side that included two players released by Rangers in the past year, Euan Ross and Timan Scott.

Queens Park took the lead just after the quarter hour mark, they hit the right hand byline and when the ball was cutback the shot hit the arm of Kristian Webster and the referee pointed to the spot, Timan Scott squeezed his shot past Sam Kane as the keeper dived to his left. Rangers were level ten minutes later, Paul Nsio in possession inside the right side of the penalty area and when he chipped the ball across the box Tyler Pasnik showed great control to control the ball and shoot past the keeper.

On the half hour mark the ball was moved in from the left and Kerr Robertson’s twenty-five yard strike had the keeper diving to his left to turn the ball wide. The action then moved to the other end with the visitors reaching the left hand byline and the shot from the cutback forced Sam Kane to save at his near post.

Rangers then took the lead a couple of minutes beyond the half hour, Kieron Williox showed good skill to beat a defender inside the right side of the penalty area, the keeper stuck out a foot to block the shot and the ball cannoned off a defender and looked to be crossing the line but Jack Roberts was on hand just to make sure. In Queens next attack they broke into the right side of the penalty area where Souleyman Mandey brought the attacker down, for the second time Sam Kane faced Timan Scott from twelve yards and this occasion the Rangers keeper didn’t have to move far to make the save.

The visitors had the final effort of the half progressing along the left hand byline and forcing Sam Kane to save the shot from a tight angle.

Half-Time:- Rangers 2 Queens Park 1

Three minutes after the break the sides were level, the attack came from the right and when he cut inside the shot squirmed past Sam Kane’s dive. A minute later Queens Park were in front, this time the attack came on the left and squared to the unmarked striker who fired into the net.

Rangers response saw a great turn from Archie Stephens take him clear but he was denied when the keeper blocked with his legs. Tyler Pasnik on the left then fed Zak McKay advancing into the left side of the box but he screwed his shot wide of the near post.

Queens then had a chance when the ball was passed to an unmarked player on the left hand angle of the box but he shot wide of the far post. At the midway point of the half only a brilliant save prevented Rangers from drawing level, Archie Stephens on the right side of the box passed inside to Jack Roberts who spun and shot with the keeper getting down low to his left with a strong hand keeping the ball out.

Archie Stephens was again the danger on the next attack progressing along the right hand byline and forcing a save from the keeper at the tightest of angles. Queens Park then extended their lead with a similar attack along the right hand byline but squeezing the shot past Mason Munn.

With time running out the Queens keeper went on walkabout outside his box eventually losing possession and the Trialist No15 showed great composure to fire the ball over defenders and keeper from around twenty-five yards. Rangers were then reduced to ten men when Paul Nsio was sent off for raising a hand in a midfield clash. The visitors added a fifth with virtually the last kick of the match, Rangers losing possession on the left side of their own box where the ball was passed across goal it was dispatched into the net.
