Pre-Season Win For U18’s

Rangers U18’s came from behind to win their opening pre-season game against Carlisle United at The Rangers Training Centre this afternoon. Rangers pretty much used to different lineups in each ha;f with the sides level at the break, Rangers pretty much dominated the second half running out comfortable winners.

The visitors had the first chance in the opening minute, breaking to the edge of the box with the shot going just wide of Mason Munn’s right hand post. Rangers came close on eighteen minutes, Jamie Newton attacked on the left and passed inside to Ryan Duncan who’s reverse pass released Jack Roberts inside the box and his shot forced a save from the keeper low to his right.

Carlisle took the lead a couple of minutes shy of the half hour mark, the ball was played to Romeo Park on the left and his stepover inside the box made the space to shoot past Mason Munn. Rangers were back on level terms six minutes later, Zak McKay hit the right hand byline and then picked out Souleyman Mandey who shot past the keeper.

Five minutes after the break Archie Stephens cut in from the right and passed to Finlay Curtis who’s shot forced a tip over from the keeper. Two minutes later Cameron Cooper in possession inside the left side of the box played the ball across goal for Zak McKay who was denied by the keeper at point blank range.

On the hour mark Cammy Scott crossed from the left and the ball found its way to Archie Stephens on the right, he cut inside before forcing a save from the keeper. Rangers took the lead with a quarter hour remaining, Bailey Rice drilling a free-kick from the edge of the box into the keeper’s bottom right hand corner.

With eight minutes remaining Lancelot Pollard showed good skill on the left and picked out Cameron Cooper who’s shot from close range was parried by the keeper but only as far as Archie Stephens who fired the ball into the net. A couple of minutes later Rangers scored a fourth, the ball was cleared from the Carlisle box to Cameron Bell on the left hand angle and his shot went over the keeper into the far corner.

A fifth goal looked likely in the final minute when the ball broke to Cameron Cooper deep inside the penalty area but he was denied by the legs of the keeper.
