Late Leveller For 2005’s

Rangers 2 Inverness Caley Thistle 2

A last minute Rory Wilson strike provided a deserved equaliser for Rangers 2005’s against Inverness Caley Thistle at The Hummel Training Centre this afternoon. With a few 2005’s moving up to the 2004’s this weekend today’s squad was supplemented with 2006’s, Kerr Robertson, Crispin McLean and Rory Wilson.

Rangers took the lead from the penalty spot on ten minutes, Tiaman Scott won the ball inside the left side of the penalty area and the referee judged he was bundled over by a defender, he got up and confidently converted the penalty. Just after the quarter hour mark a free from Jamie Newton midway inside the Inverness half picked out Callum Sandilands inside the right side of the box and his controlled volley was saved by the keeper.

The visitors drew level midway through the half, a shot from the edge of the box was diverted past Jacob Pazikas by the striker in front of goal. Five minutes later Jamie Newton showed great skill to take on the defence on the left hand angle of the box and played a one-two with Ricco Diack before firing a shot against the near post. On the half-hour mark Kerr Robertson passed to Elliott Dunlop on the right, his low cross was fired against the near post by Ricco Diack at close range.

Five minutes before the break Jamie Newton’s corner from the right was hooked on by Rory Wilson at the near post and Adam Forrester volleyed back across goal and just wide of the post.

Rangers created an early chance after the break, a short corner was worked on the left with Jamie Newton crossing from the angle of the box and Brodie Kerr’s header was only just wide of the keeper’s right hand post. A couple of minutes later Inverness took the lead, Rangers failed to clear a corner from the right and the ball was eventually knocked past Scott Cowie from close range, possibly by a defender.

Midway through the half a through ball deflected into the path of Elliott Dunlop and his drive from the edge of the box forced the keeper to dive to his left to save. The game had entered the final quarter hour when a superb Crispin McLean through ball released Elliott Dunlop but the keeper raced from goal to block on the edge of the box.

Five minutes later Elliot Dunlop turned provider with his pass sending Rory Wilson into the box but he was denied when the keeper blocked with his legs. With the game in the final minute Zak Queen tried his luck with a looping shot from around twenty five yards, the keeper dived high to his right to parry but Rory Wilson was on hand to fire into the roof of the net for an equaliser the young Rangers side deserved.
