Off Day For Under 15’s

Rangers 1 Hibernian 4

It was a bit of an off day for Rangers U15’s against an efficient Hibs team at The Hummel Training Centre yesterday afternoon. The Edinburgh youngsters pretty much converted all their clear-cut chances while the young Rangers side were a bit wasteful with he chances that came their way. If there was a positive to take from the game it was the inclusion and performance of the five U14’s in the squad.

Rangers fell behind on four minutes, Hibs worked the ball to the left hand angle of the box and the low centre was fired past Jack McConnell. They were behind for less than five minutes, Connor Allen broke forward and played Robbie Ure through, when he was challenged the ball broke back to the Rangers midfielder who shot high past the keeper from around twenty-five yards.

Hibs regained the lead just after the twenty-five minute mark, they moved the ball along the eighteen yard line from the right to central and the shot took a big deflection to give Jack McConnell no chance. Rangers had a great chance to draw level on the stroke of half-time, a superb reverse pass from Leyton Dunlop released Robbie Ure inside the right side of the penalty area but the Hibs keeper stood tall to make the block.

Rangers again lost an early goal in the second half, Hibs moved the ball from the right to inside the left side of the penalty area and the shot was across Jack McConnell into the far corner. They fell further behind before the hour mark, a free-kick from midway inside Rangers half and right of centre was delivered to the back post where it was volleyed past Jack McConnell. Rangers response was a Robbie Ure pass to Leyton Dunlop on the left hand angle of the box, he took on a defender before forcing the keeper to make a save from his shot.

Rangers next chance came when Kelsey Ewan played a one-two with Leyton Dunlop to break into the left side of the penalty area with the Hibs keeper blocking the shot with his foot. The last chance of the game came when Gavin Gallagher sent Robbie Ure through a slight hesitation allowed the keeper to save and then block the effort from the rebound from a narrow angle.
