15’s Host Club NI

Rangers 3 Club NI 0

What has become an annual event, the visit of the Club NI teams is for me a highlight of the youth season. This afternoon Rangers U15’s (2004’s) had a comfortable win over their Club NI counterparts. What looked like a game of three thirty minute periods, became one of two thirty minutes and one of fifteen, therefore a seventy-five minute game.

There was only a couple of minutes on the clock when Rangers took the lead, Alex Lowrie and Robbie Ure combined on the right side of the penalty area to work the ball across to Darren McInally inside the right side of the box and he shot past the keeper. Rangers continued to have the better of the first period although neither side troubled the opposing keeper.

Midway through the second period Darren McInally’s cross from the right hand angle of the box had Gavin Gallagher stretching but he couldn’t quite force the ball over the line, it broke to Robbie Ure whose close range shot was blocked by a defender. Within a minute Robbie Ure turned provider to pick out Gavin Gallagher inside the penalty to shoot past the keeper.

Just before the period end Makenzie Kirk passed to Alex Lowrie who teased a defender as he made his way to the byline, who looked up to pick out a return pass to Makenzie Kirk who’s effort was deflected just wide of the keeper’s left hand post. The scoring was completed five minutes into the final period, Alex Lowrie played a quick free-kick to Leyton Dunlop on the left and his cross broke for Makenzie Kirk to net from the edge of the six yard box.
