Friendly Win For Under 20’s

Rangers Under 20’s recorded a comfortable win in this morning’s friendly against Edusport at Toryglen. Rangers could have taken the lead within the opening thirty seconds, Ross Lyon moved the ball forward to Amin Abaradan who sent it out wide to Serge Atakayi, the winger hit the byline and from his cutback Amin Abaradan was denied at point-blank range by the keeper. On eighteen minutes Ursene Mounanda picked out Jamie Barjonas’s run into the box, the ball bounced high and he couldn’t get the required power in his header whichthe keeper saved comfortably.

Within sixty seconds Rangers took the lead, Ross  Lyon passed to Amin Abaradan inside the penalty area and he turned past a defender before shooting past the keeper. A second goal soon followed, Jamie Barjonas, in possession on the edge of the box, laid the ball back to Jordan Gibson who’s shot from around twenty-five yards found the keeper’s bottom right hand corner.

Edusport had shown little in an attacking sense until six minutes before the break when a shot came in following an attack on the left with Kieran Wright saving comfortably.

Rangers had an early second half chance five minutes after the break, Jordan Gibson passed to Jack Adamson on the right side of the box, he picked out Kyle Bradley’s run into the penalty area who was denied by the keeper and the near post. A couple of minutes later Serge Atakayi and Amin Abaradan combined to send Ross McCrroie down the left, his low ball across the six yard box flashed across goal with no takers.

On sixty-five minutes Edusport got to the byline with an attack down the right, from the cut back Nicky Hogarth saved the shot at the near post. Rangers went straight up the other end and good play between Amin Abaradan and Serge Atakayi on the edge of the box saw the latter break through, his shot was blocked and the ball broke towards the keeper’s right hand post were he bundled over Jack Adamson for a clear penalty. Amin Abaradan stepped up to take the penalty put the keeper dived to his left to produce a fine save.

A corner from the left provided Edusport with a chance on seventy-two minutes, the ball going beyond the back post to an unmarked player with Nicky Hogarth saving at the near post.The young Rangers keeper bettered that four minutes later getting down to his left to turn a shot from the edge of the box round the post.

As the game entered the final ten minutes Jordan Gibson broke forward on the left and sent Serge Atakayi towards the byline, he picked out the Trialist (12) who cracked a shot off the keeper’s right hand post. In the final minute Ross McCrorie got to the left hand byline before crossing to the unmarked Sam Jamieson who headed straight at the keeper.
