Only a brilliant save prevented Rangers taking the lead in the fifth minute, the play was switched from the left to Ross McCausland inside the right side of the box, he cut inside a defender and his net bound shot was tipped on to the crossbar by Anton Ari Einarsson. Arron Lyall’s follow up from the rebound was deflected wide of the keeper’s left hand post.

Rangers 3 Celtic 3

In the morning, also at The Rangers Training Centre, Rangers Under 14’s shared six goals with their Celtic counterparts in an entertaining game.

Rangers had a couple of early efforts that didn’t trouble the goal keeper, similar efforts followed at the other end before Celtic took the lead on thirteen minutes, a ball over Rangers defence released the attacker, the initial shot came back of the keeper’s right hand post but the rebound was converted.

With the period entering the final ten minutes Rangers equalised from the penalty spot, Coben Ferguson broke into the right side of the box where he was bundled over and Luca Rankin converted from the spot. Rangers took the lead four minutes later, Ethan Molloy passed to Coben Ferguson on the edge of the box where he side stepped a defender before shooting past the keeper.

The sides were level again two minutes later, following a corner the ball went back out to the right, the cross flicked off a defender and looped to the back post where it was volleyed into the net. Celtic then had a one on one early in the second period with Carter McEwan coming from his line to produce a fine save.

Rangers took the lead ten minutes later, Luca Rankin’s pass split the Celtic defence and found Riley Bryson on the left hand angle of the box, he passed inside to Coben Ferguson who’s shot was deflected towards the back post where Luca Rankin netted at close range. With the midpoint of the final period imminent Luca Rankin cut in from the left and his shot beat the keeper but a defender got back to clear from the line.

Immediately after the turn round Luca Rankin cut in from the left before shooting straight at the keeper. Celtic went straight to the other end to draw level, a free header from a right hand corner beat Igor Mames.

Rangers response saw Riley Bryson shoot straight at the keeper from the edge of the box. In the final minute Celtic missed a great chance to win it, a pass came into the box from the left but the shot was narrowly wide of the near post.
