15’s Hit Six

Rangers Under 15’s recorded a comfortable win over Queens Park last night at The Rangers Training Centre, scoring three goals in each half.

The visitors had the first effort on goal on twelve minutes, the ball was passed in from the right with the shot from the edge of the box going straight at Rydnn McGuire. There was immediately a chance at the other end when Alex Smith was sent through, with the keeper saving bravely at his feet as he tried to round him.

Rangers opened the scoring on the quarter hour mark, Jack Caldwell played the ball forward to Kyle Rodger who played the ball across goal from the right hand byline for Alex Smith to convert at the back post. The lead was soon doubled when a corner from the right bobbled about the penalty area till it broke to Evan Molloy who shot past the keeper from around six yards.

It was three just beyond the midpoint of the half, Kyle Rodger in possession inside the right side of the penalty area squared the ball to present Alex Smith with a simple finish.

The first real chance after the break came when a chipped pass created a chance for Queens Park inside the right side of the box but the shot went over the bar. Another chance for the visitors followed  from inside the right side of the box which was fired straight at Rydnn McGuire.

Rangers increased their lead just past the hour mark, Ronald Nimyel going past the last defender and racing clear to round the keeper and shoot into the empty net. With twenty minutes remaining Aiden McCallion passed to Cammy Fernie on the left side of the box and his ball across goal was knocked wide of the far post by Alex Smith.

Rangers then missed a glorious chance to add to their tally, Olly Hynd’s cross from the right picked out the unmarked Ronald Nimyel who volleyed over from six yards. The fifth gaol wasn’t far away and it came when Cammy Fernie won the ball on the edge of the box and stepped into the penalty area to shoot past the keeper.

When a Queens Park corner from the right broke to an attacker deep inside the right side of the box it took a superb point blank save from Rydnn McGuire with an outstretched foot to keep the clean sheet intact. A ball over the defence then sent Ronald Nimyel racing clear into the right side of the box where the keeper diverted the ball wide with his legs.

Alex Smith then sent Ronald Nimyel into the left side of the penalty area where he rounded the keeper but shot over the unguarded goal. Cammy Fernie then tried his luck from around twenty-five yards with the keeper diving to his right to turn the ball wide.

The scoring was complete when the referee judged a shot from the edge of the box was handled by a Queens Park defender with Thomas Falconer stepping up to convert from the spot.
