Dundee United 1 Rangers 0

Rangers U18’s fell to their ninth league defeat of the season to second bottom Dundee United at Gussie Park this afternoon, it was a deserved victory for the home side with Rangers only mustering two shots on target, the second being the last action of the game deep into injury time.

United had the ball in the net in the opening minute, Rory McLeod shot from the edge of the box, Mason Munn saved low to his left  with Bryan Mgwani knocking the loose ball into the net but was flagged offside. Six minutes later he was forced to leave the field through injury and was replaced by Adam Carnwarth, The home side took the lead on thirteen minutes, there seemed little danger when Lewis O’Donnell shot at Mason Munn from the edge of the box but the Rangers keeper allowed the ball to slip through his grasp and into the net.

A couple of minutes later Leyton Grant’s miss control allowed Rory McLeod to race into the right side of the box where a superb Kristian Webster challenge cleared the danger. With the midpoint of the half approaching Keir Bertie crossed from the left and Rory McLeod headed over.

Rangers had their first shot on goal a couple of minutes shy of the half hour, Finlay Curtis’s effort from a free kick on the left hand angle of the box was just wide of the near post. Barely sixty seconds later Rangers had a great chance to draw level, Archie Stevens went past a defender into the right side of the box but was denied by Jamie McCabe who diverted the ball wide of his left hand post with a leg. Four minutes before the break Rangers were forced into a change when Connor Cooper took a kick on the face and was replaced by Cammy Scott.
