Comfortable Win For 18’s

Rangers Under 18’s recorded a comfortable win over Hibernian at The Rangers Training Centre this afternoon. Rangers established a three goal lead ten minutes into the second half with Hibs grabbing a late consolation goal.

Goalmouth incidents were at a premium in the early stages of the first half, Mason Munn was the first keeper called into action when he stretched to clutch Ethan Laidlaw’s effort under the crossbar. With the twenty minute mark approaching Reuben McAllister cut in from the right before shooting narrowly over.

Rangers took the lead on thirty-three minutes, Tyler Pasnik picked the ball up inside the Hibs half and broke forward before passing to Archie Stevens on the edge of the box, he cut back onto his right foot and fired into Freddie Owens bottom left hand corner. Rangers doubled their lead six minutes later, Zander Hutton crossed low into the box from the right and the ball broke to Zak McKay at the back post where he shot past the keeper.

The visitors had a chance when Josh Landers broke clear, Mason Munn forced him wide and his weak effort was easily cleared by Zak McKay.

Ten minutes into the second half Rangers extended their lead, Jack Roberts attacked the Hibs box and played in Tyler Pasnik on the right and he stepped into the box to shot across the keeper into the far corner. With twenty- five minutes remaining Jacob MacIntyre attacked the right hand angle of the box with his shot going narrowly wide of the far post.

Rangers were soon back on the attack and Archie Stevens broke into the left side of the box when he knocked the ball across goal it found Cammy Cooper who shot straight at the keeper. On the seventy minute mark Hibs were reduced to ten men, Jacob MacIntyre was shown a second yellow for aiming a kick at Archie Stevens.

With the game inside the final quarter hour Rangers attacked the right side of the box the ball broke to Kieron Willox on the edge of the penalty area with Freddie Owens saving the shot. A few minutes later Kieron Willox was setup by Archie Stevens from the right side of the box and on this occasion his shot was deflected wide.

Within nine minutes remaining Hibs grabbed a consolation goal, Ethan Laidlaw racing clear from halfway on a clearance to continue into the box and shoot past Mason Munn.
