High Scoring Win For Colts

Cumbernauld Colts 3 Rangers 6

From early in the game Rangers Colts were in command and were always going to win the game although for the second game running they lost three goals which should be a concern.

Rangers took the lead in the third minute, Charlie McCann passed to Ross McCausland on the right and when he broke into the penalty area he was brought down by Cameron Dickson for a clear penalty that Charlie McCann converted. Rangers doubled their lead on ten minutes when Connor Young picked up a loose ball and gave Ryan Adamson no chance from around twenty-five yards.

Another chance soon followed when Connor Young passed to Ross McCausland inside the right side of the box and his shot forced Ryan Adamson to save low to his right. On seventeen minutes the home side had their first effort on goal when Regan McLaren in possession on the left passed to Ewan McPherson inside the box with Lewis Budinauckas saving at his near post.

Rangers were soon back on attack and when Ross McCausland fed the overlapping Jack Harkness his cross just evaded Robbie Ure and Connor Young. Rangers were forced into a change on twenty-four minutes when the injured Connor Young was replaced by Zak Lovelace. The substitute made his mark with a superb goal nine minutes later, from Mackenzie Strachan’s chipped pass into the box Zak Lovelace teed the ball up with a superb first touch to spin and volley past the keeper.

Eight minutes before the break the home side reduced the deficit from the spot, Craig Holmes progressed into the right side of the box and the referee aided by his assistant spotted a Robbie Fraser push and pointed to the spot, with the fouled player scoring the penalty. A few minutes later Rangers restored their three goal lead, Charlie McCann passed to Zak Lovelace inside the left side of the box and he passed across the penalty area for Charlie Lindsay to net from around the penalty spot.

The second half was only three minutes old when Rangers scored a fifth, Charlie Lindsay’s corner from the left was delivered to the back post where Lewis MacKinnon rose to head past Ryan Adamson. Cumbernauld missed a great chance with twenty minutes remaining, Cameron Dickson got to the left hand byline and his cross picked out the unmarked Regan McLaren who headed over.

Four minutes later Lewis Budinauckas was called into action diving high to his left to turn Dylan Tennant’s free kick from the right hand angle of the box wide. From the resultant corner from the right Regan McLaren headed into the net for the home side’s second goal. Robbie Fraser then hit the left hand byline and picked out Charlie McCann with his cutback who’s shot was saved by Ryan Adamson.

With a quarter hour remaining Zak Lovelace burst into the left side of the penalty area and was only denied when Ryan Adamson blocked with his legs. Rangers scored a sixth with six minutes remaining when a defensive slip allowed a through ball to reach Arron Lyall who progressed into the box to shoot past the keeper.

Right at the death another Cumbernauld corner from the right, this time delivered beyond the back post where it was headed back across goal and volleyed into the net from close range by Regan McLaren.
