Colts Lose At Bo’ness

Bo’ness United 1 Rangers 0

It was another disappointing performance from a Rangers side as they lost their Lowland League game at Newtown Park this afternoon. The windy conditions made it difficult for both sides with chances at a premium, but in truth Rangers only really had one clear opportunity.

The first real opportunity came for the home side just after the quarter hour mark, Gregor Nicol cut in from the right past two Rangers players and exchanged passes with Reiss Peggie before setting up a shooting chance for Kyle Wilson inside the left side of the penalty area which Jay Hogarth saved comfortably at his near post. Rangers looked sure to take the lead midway through the half, Alex Lowry’s pass sent Juan Alegria clear and the big striker looked to have done everything right as he rounded Andy Murphy and knocked the ball towards the goal until Greg Skinner got back to make a brilliant goal line clearance.

On thirty three minutes the impressive Gregor  Nicol got to the left hand byline and his cross was headed narrowly over by Kyle Wilson. Rangers reply saw Adam Devine attack on the right and his ball across the penalty area was fired over by Alex Lowry at the back post.

The home side took the lead on the stroke of half-time, Danny Galbraith’s corner from the right saw Murray Carstairs stoop at the near post and his flick on header found the net.

Half-Time:- Bo’ness United 1 Rangers 0

With the wind at their backs the pattern of the second half saw Rangers dominate possession but fail to create much in the way of goalmouth action. Bo’ness were content to sit in and when they did break forward Rangers dealt with it comfortably. The best chance of the half came with the final quarter hour approaching, Robbie Fraser’s corner from the left has headed wide at the back post by Cole McKinnon.
