Comfortable Win For 18’s

Rangers Under 18’s recorded a comfortable win over Hibs in tonight’s Youth League game at The Hummel Training Centre. Despite playing three-quarters of the game with ten men following Ciaran Dickson’s red card, Hibs failed to trouble Lewis Budinauckas during the ninety minutes.

Rangers dominated the early stages but without creating any clear-cut chances. Hibs gained a free kick on the right side of Rangers penalty area with their first venture forward on twenty-four minutes. Before the free-kick could be taken Ciaran Dickson was shown a straight red card for an off the ball incident. Rangers took the lead on that half-hour, from Josh McPake’s free-kick on the left hand angle of the box his cross was headed back across goal and in of the post by Kyle McLelland.

Just before the twenty-minute mark of the second half Murray Miller played the ball forward to Josh McPake with the keeper saving his shot from the edge of the box comfortably. Rangers doubled their lead two minutes later, Josh McPake chased a long high ball towards the left hand angle of the box, with the keeper coming from goal he got there first, went past the keeper and rolled the ball into the unguarded net.

Rangers third came just after the midpoint of the half, Zack Butterworth chased a short pass back towards the right hand byline where he cut the ball back for Josh McPake to slam the ball past the keeper. The scoring was completed with seven minutes remaining, Dapo Mebude passed to James Maxwell who attacked the box before passing to Josh McPake inside the right side of the penalty area and shot past the keeper to complete his hat trick.
