Win For Rob Roy At Final Game At Adamslie

Kirkintilloch Rob Roy 3 Rangers 0

It was a disappointing display both in terms of performance and result in today’s friendly to mark the final match played at Kirkintilloch Rob Roy’s Adamslie Park, with the junior side running out comfortable winners.

The home side had a chance on thirteen minutes when Kris Gibson was short with a pass back, Lewis McMinn did well to win the challenege with Scott Morton and clear the danger. Midway through the half Barrie McKay’s shot from wide on the right side of the penalty area had Jon Connolly diving to save with Junior Ogen firing the rebound over.

Lewis McMinn was soon called into action again, from Danny McKenzie’s left wing cross Scott Morton headed for goal with the Rangers keeper diving to his left to parry. A minute later Willie Sawyers was through on goal and Lewis McMinn pulled off another fine save low to his right, with Adam Wilson somehow managing to clear from under the crossbar under pressure from Scott Morton.

The h0me side then took the lead on the half-hour, Scott Morton collecting a cross inside the box before shoot past Lewis McMinn and high into the net.

Rangers had a bright start to the second half when Dylan Dykes sent Callum gallagher through the inside right channel, his shot across the keeper forced a fine save from Stuart Wilson low to his right to divert the ball wide for a corner. A couple of minutes later Scott Roberts sent a cross in from the right to Callum Gallagher on the left side of the box who volleyed over.

Ten minutes had gone when Ryan Sinnamon’s clearance cannoned off Scott Morton to Alistair Martin who’s shot was just wide of Lewis McMinn’s right hand post. Rangers replied when Ryan Sinnamon sent Charlie Telfer down the right, he looked up to find Darren Ramsay arriving at the edge of the box but his shot was wide of the keeper’s left hand post.

Lewis McMinn then lost an aerial challenge as he tried to head clear on the edge of his box, the ball broke to Willie Sawyers who shot towards the empty net but was denied by a superb Greg Pascazio goal line clearance, colliding with the post and injuring himself in the process. With twenty minutes remaining Owen Ronald’s corner from the left broke for Kris Mitchell who blazed over with the goal at his mercy.

As the game entered the final fifteen minutes Jamie Burrows hit the byline on the right before cutting the ball back for Andy Murdoch to drive just wide of the keeper’s left hand post. The home site then capitalised by increasing their lead a couple of minutes later, Owen Ronald on the right found Scott Morton on the edge of the box and a superb turn created the space for him to fire past Liam Kelly.

With four minutes remaining Scott Morton was in possession on the left hand byline with his back to goal, he looked up and found Ryan Deas on the edge of the box and he drove the ball past Liam Kelly and into the net. Rangers had one final chance to get on the scoresheet, Max Ashmore’s shot broke off a defender to Callum Gallagher on the left side of the box but his effort was wide of the near post.
