Rangers under 17’s went top of the Glasgow Cup Qualifying Group at Murray Park tonight. A win against Queen’s Park made it three wins in three games to maintain their 100% record.

It was the visitor’s who had the first chance of the game in the opening minute, Tom Collins broke clear on the right hand side of the box but he delayed his shot to long and Greg Pascazio got back to dispossess the striker and clear the danger. Rangers took the lead on thirteen minutes, Tom Walsh delivered a free-kick from the left and David Brownlie rose to send a glancing header into the net.

The rest of the first half was a fairly even affair which each side having a couple of long-range efforts and the odd scramble in either penalty box but neither keeper was seriously troubled.

Just over a quarter of an hour had passed in the second half when Queen’s Park created a chance through the middle of the Rangers defence but substitute Jordan Davidson shot over. Rangers replied a minute later, Scott Roberts who was making his long-awaited return from injury played a corner on the left short to Danny Stoney on the angle of the box and his effort took a deflection forcing Danny McLean to tip over.

Midway through the half Tom Walsh’s cross from the left was almost converted by Ryan Hardie at the back post, but the striker’s effort was narrowly wide. Three minutes later Rangers doubled their lead, Scott Roberts crossed from the right, Adam Wilson laid the ball back into the path of  Tom Walsh on the edge of the box and he sent a shot into the top corner of the net with the aid of a slight deflection.

Rangers put an extra bit of gloss on the scoreline with a third goal in the final minute, Dylan Dykes picked up a slack pass on the right and played the ball inside to Tom Walsh on the edge of the box, the midfielder made half a yard of space before firing past Danny McLean.
