Comfortable Win For 14’s

Partick Thistle 1 Rangers 5

Before heading to Ibrox I had the opportunity to take in the Under 14’s match against Partick Thistle at Lochinch this morning. It was a comfortable win with Thistle scoring with their only real effort on goal in the last-minute.

Rangers took an early lead in the third minute Darren McInally’s through ball sent Dire Mebude through into the box to prod the ball past the keeper. The lead was doubled just before the quarter-hour mark, Jack Scanlan’s pass inside the left back allowed Dire Mebude to get to the right hand byline and his low cross was fired into the net by a Thistle centre-back for an Own Goal.

The home side was showing little in attack but a couple of minutes past the half-hour an attack took them into the left side of the box and Jack McConnell was quick from his line to save at the attacker’s feet. Five minutes before the break Thistle failed to clear a corner from the left and when the ball fell to Dire Mebude his shot struck the bar.

Half-Time:- Partick Thistle 0 Rangers 2

Rangers continued to dominate but we had reached the mid-point in the half before the next real chance. Tyler Pasnik went passed the full-back to hit the left had byline, his cutback found Robbie Ure who shot narrowly wide of the far post. Within a minute a carbon copy of the move produced the third goal. Again Tyler Pasnik hit the byline but on this occasion Robbie Ure fired his cutback into the net.

With a quarter-hour remaining Tyler Pasnik sent Robbie Ure through into the left side of the penalty area with the keeper coming from his line to make the block and Tyler Pasnik fired the rebound just wide of the keeper’s right hand post. Within a couple of minutes Rangers increased their lead, Dire Mebude won the ball midway inside the Thistle half and it broke to Darren McInally, he passed to Robbie Ure inside the right side of the box and his cross come shot went over the keeper and into the net.

Rangers next chance came when Darren McInally’s free-kick from the edge of the box was pushed onto the crossbar by the keeper. Another free-kick was the source of Rangers fifth goal, this time Leyton Dunlop’s effort struck the bar but fell for Dire Mebude who fired into the net.

Thistle attacked with a minute remaining and when the ball broke to the left hand angle of the box the shot went over Jack McConnell into the far top corner.
