Rangers 5 Partick Thistle 2

Rangers Development side found it difficult to overcome Partick Thistle in tonight’s Youth Cup tie at Ibrox. They struggled to get going in a poor first half and then when they did get in front they managed to lose a two goal lead before putting the game to bed in extra time.

Thistle were first to threaten on seven minutes when Mark Lamont attacked the centre of the box but his shot was weak and Kieran Wright saved comfortably. Two minutes later Stephen Kelly, Zak Rudden and Jamie Barjonas combined to work a short corner on the left, Zak Rudden’s effort from a tight angle was cleared from the line by Jason Krones at the back post.

Midway through the half Jamie Barjonas strong challenge just inside the Thistle half saw the ball break to Serge Atakayi on the edge of the box but he shot straight at Jamie Stevenson.
