Rangers Under 16’s friendly tonight against Queen’s Park lasted an hour before the heavy snow forced the referee to abandon the match.
Rangers had the better of the early play but it was the visitors who took the lead on twenty-one minutes, the Queen’s Park attacker went past two defenders before entering the right side of the penalty area and shooting of the far post and into the net. Four minutes later Owen McGinty sent the ball out to Nathan Patterson on the right, his return pass found Owen McGinty on the edge of the box who’s shot was just wide of the keeper’s left hand post.
The visitors attacked down the left on the half hour and when the ball was passed inside Lewis Muir was forced into a save low to hos right. Rangers responded by drawing level four minutes later, Owem McGinty went past the full back on the left, from his cutback Niyah Joseph’s effort was blocked but the ball went across goal for Kieran McKechnie to net from close range.
A further four minutes had elapsed when Kieran McKechnie sent Nathan Patterson down the right his cutback found Gregor Woods who was denied by a superb point-blank save. Rangers edged in front within a minute, Carlo Pignatiello dispossessed a defender inside the penalty area before shooting past the keeper.

Rangers increased their lead barely a minute into the second half, Carlo Pignatiello attacked the centre of the Queen’s Park defence before playing through Gregor Woods who dinked the ball past the keeper, the ball was heading for the net but Owen McGinty knocked the ball over the line. Queen’s responded when they worked the ball to the edge of the penalty area and from the shot Nicky Hogarth was forced into a save.
Now just over ten minutes into the half Owen McGinty passed to Nathan Patterson wide on the right, he passed inside to Kieran McKechnie who side-stepped a defender before shooting past the keeper. A few minutes later Niyah Joseph dispossessed the keeper and worked a better angle for a shot which was cleared off the line. With snow now quite thick on the pitch the referee abandoned the game.
