20’s Lose At Rugby Park

A poor performance saw Rangers slip to  Development League defeat at Rugby Park tonight. Despite taking the lead Rangers were second best and Killie fully deserved their win.

Kilmarnock were first to threaten on seven minutes with Flo Bojaj breaking into the left side of the penalty area but his shot was weak and Robbie McCrorie saved comfortably.Midway through the half Myles Beerman played the ball to Liam Burt on the left hand angle of the box with Devlin Mackay comfortably saving his effort.

Within sixty seconds Rangers took the lead, Andy Dallas cutting in from the left, leaving two defenders in his wake before shooting past Devlin Mackay from the edge of the box. Rangers only held the lead for four minutes, from a right-wing cross Flo Bojaj bulleted a header past Robbie McCrorie from the edge of the six yard box.

Three minutes later the home side were in front, Charlee Adams played the ball to Adam Frizzell on the left hand angle of the box and he curled a shot beyond Robbie McCrorie into the far top corner. Rangers missed a great chance to draw level two minutes before the break, Ross Lyon picked out Liam Burt inside the box with Devlin Mackay coming from his line to make the block.

Rangers hopes were dealt a blow two minutes after the break, Flo Bojaj found it far too easy to go through the centre of Rangers defence leaving David Bates and Kyle Bradley trailing to continue into the box and shoot past Robbie McCrorie. The home side came close to a fourth on sixty-three minutes, from Charlee Adams corner from the right Jamie Cobain’s volley clipped the crossbar on the way over.

On seventy minutes Myles Beerman played the ball forward to Serge Akatayi on the left, he cut inside before passing to Ross Lyon who shot narrowly over from around twenty-five yards. Within a minute Kilmarnock increased their lead, Iain Wilson was in possession on the right hand angle of the box and with several Rangers defenders following the runner he was allowed the space to cut inside on to his left foot and shoot past Robbie McCrorie.

Rangers responded when Myles Beerman played the ball forward to Ross Lyon who picked out Liam Burt inside the box, he got his shot away under pressure from a defender with Devlin Mackay saving to his left. A couple of minutes later Ross McCrorie on the right passed inside to Jamie Barjonas who’s thirty yarder was saved by Devlin Mackay low to his right.

With six minutes remaining Rangers grabbed a second, Ross McCrorie swung in a cross from the right and Andy Dallas on the edge of the six yard box headed powerfully past the keeper.

    Andy Dallas seems to be getting really good after last week’s performance against Hamilton.
