Friendly Win for 20’s

Rangers Development squad had a comfortable win in today’s friendly against Stirling University at Murray Park. The game was arranged to provided game time across the squad and the highlight of today’s game was a Jordan Gibson hat-trick.

Yet it was the visitor’s who took the lead on five minutes, the attack came on the right side of Rangers penalty and their attacker went past Kyle Bradley towards the byline, he rolled the ball across the six yard box for a simple finish at the far post. On the quarter-hour mark Rangers replaced Aidan Wilson, who sustained a head knock, with Max Ashmore and within sixty seconds Rangers drew level. Andy Dallas won possession on the right hand angle of the box and exchanged passes with Amin Abaradan before shooting past the keeper.

Less than five minutes later a Sam Jamieson pass sent Amin Abaradan through the inside left channel with the Stirling keeper advancing from his penalty area to make the block. Barely another minute had elapsed when Rangers took the lead, the attack came down the right and when the ball was played into the box Amin Abaradan held it up before laying it back to Jordan Gibson who beat the keeper from the edge of the box.

Rangers increased their lead ten minutes later, Ross Lyon moved the ball forward to Andy Dallas on the right who hit the byline before cutting the ball back to Amin Abaradan who shot past the keeper from inside the right side of the box. Four minutes before the break Jordan Gibson added a superb fourth, from the left hand angle of the box he beat a defender before shooting across the keeper into the far top corner.

A couple of minutes into first half injury time Amin Abaradan cut inside from the right hand angle of the box, his shot beat the keeper but rebounded off his right hand post.

The first action of the second half saw Jordan Gibson complete his hat-trick, on the edge of the box just left of centre he curled a shot past the keeper and into the far corner of the net. Within a couple of minutes Josh Jeffries cut in from the right and when the keeper got down to his left to parry his shot Zak Rudden was on hand to knock the rebound into the net.

Just before the hour mark Zak Rudden turned on the edge of the box and played in Sam Jamieson on the left side of the penalty area who was denied at the near post with a block by the keeper’s legs. Midway through the half the visitor’s attacked on the right and when the shot came in from inside the right side of the penalty area Kieran Wright saved at his near post. From the resultant corner the ball was volleyed  narrowly over.

The final chance came at the other end with four minutes remaining, Josh Jeffries passed to Zak Rudden on the right side of the box, he cut inside a defender before shooting but the keeper got the slightest touch to divert it wide of the far post.
