Win For 20’s

Dunfermline Athletic 0 Rangers 1

A second-half Dylan Dykes penalty allied to a clean sheet gave Rangers Development League side their first win in six games at East End Park this afternoon. It was a game of few chances and neither goalkeeper was over worked.

Rangers had an early chance when Tom Lang headed a cross from the left goalwards, Zak Rudden got a flick on the edge of the six yard box but a home defender cleared from the goal line. Dunfermline replied just before the quarter hour when James Thomas turned on the edge of the box to get in a shot that Robbie McCrorie saved low to his left.

Less than five minutes later Brandon Luke broke forward and passed the ball to James Thomas on the edge of the box, he laid the ball back to Robbie Crawford who’s shot was straight at Robbie McCrorie. A couple of minutes before the break Brandon Luke cut in from the left before shooting for goal with the shot being too straight and Robbie McCrorie saved comfortably.

There was a wee flurry of chances around ten minutes into the second-half. Jamie Brandon won the ball and passed to Josh Jeffries wide on the right, he cut inside but it was another straight shot that didn’t trouble Cammy Gill. Straight to the other end and Tom Lang was caught in possession on the left hand angle of the box allowing James Thomas to enter the penalty area and force a save from Robbie McCrorie.

The sequence ended when Lewis White combined with Scott Roberts on the left, an exchange of passes took Lewis White into the left side of the penalty area but he shot into the side netting. Rangers took the lead on sixty-four minutes, Mekhi Leacock-McLeod attacked the left side of the penalty area, but was heading back out of the box when he was tripped and the referee pointed to the spot, with Dylan Dykes stepping up to blast the ball past Cammy Gill.

With four minutes remaining Connor Duthie went down under a Kyle Bradley challenge inside the left side of Rangers penalty area, the referee judged it had been a dive and showed a second yellow and subsequent red card. The home side finished the game with territorial advantage but failed to trouble Robbie McCrorie and Rangers held on for the three points.
