Easy Wins Over Fife Elite

Today’s games at Murray Park was a 13’s and 14’s double header against Fife Elite, staggered kick offs meant I could take in both games. First up was the younger side with an 11 am kick-off.

Rangers 11 Fife Elite 0

Neither of Rangers goalkeepers made a save and the under 13’s ran up a big score against there opponents from Fife. The trend was set with two goals in the opening five minutes, the first came from a Robbie Fraser corner from the right that Leon King rose to head past the keeper. Within sixty seconds Robbie Fraser was again the creator this time attacking the left side of the box before picking out Lewis Robertson, the keeper did well to block his initial shot but was stranded as he knocked in the rebound.

The visitors stemmed the tide until almost the half -hour mark when they cleared a ball from their box but only as far as Greg Chalmers who’s shot found the keeper’s bottom right hand corner. Rangers grabbed a forth three minutes into the second period, Adam Devine hit the byline on the left and his centre was converted by Matthew Collins.

Within in a minute Reegan Aitken attacked the left hand angle of the box before passing inside to Lewis Robertson who on this occasion was denied by the keeper. Within five minutes Reegan Aitken was the provider of Rangers fifth, providing the cross from the left  for Aidan Berry to head into the net at the back post.

A sixth goal soon followed with Adam Devine breaking into the left side of the penalty area before shooting past the keeper. Midway through the second period Aaron Lyall attacked down the right and when his low cross looked destined for Reegan Aitken at the back post a Fife defender knocked the ball past his own keeper while attempting to clear for an Own Goal.

Two minutes later a solo run from Aaron Lyall took him past three defenders as he slalomed into the box but his shot bounced of the keeper’s right hand post. Rangers eighth goal was only delayed and it came when Robbie Fraser’s pass sent Connor ????? racing clear to continue into the box and shoot past the keeper.

The ninth came before the end of the period when Adam Devine progressed to the byline of the left and cut the ball back to Greg Chalmers who slammed the ball into the net. The one way traffic continued in the final period, Matthew Collins played Robbie Fraser through on the left side of the box and he forced a fine save from the keeper.

Robbie Fraser and Harley Ewan then combined on the edge of the penalty area to release Connor ????? who scored with a fine finish. The final goal came with four minutes remaining, Leon King’s free-kick from inside his own half sent Alex Lowry clear and he finished with a sublime chip over the keeper.

The 14’s game in the afternoon followed a similar one sided pattern although the young Fifers at least forced a save from the Rangers keeper late in the game. It took Rangers all of two minutes to open the scoring. the ball was played up to Simon Millar on the edge of the penalty area and he played in Ciaran Dickson who shot past the keeper. It took a further eighteen minutes for Rangers to add to their tally, it was created on the left when Euan Deveney passed to Kai Kennedy and made his way into the box to receive the return ball, his shot forced the keeper to dive to his left to parry but straight to Simon Millar who netted at the far post.

Four minutes before the end of the period the Fife keeper fumbled Blair Rossiter’s cross from the left and Simon Millar couldn’t quite covert hitting the back post at close range. In the opening minuite of the second period a Blair Rossiter corner from the right was played to Ciaran Dickson twenty-five yards out and his drive forced the keeper to tip over. From Blair Rossiter’s next cross, this time from the left, Aaron Bryson looked certain to score but headed over.

Within five minutes Blair Rossiter sent Euan Deveney to the left hand byline and his cross picked out Aaron Bryson who’s close range effort was wide of the keeper’s right hand post. The next opportunity came when Ryan Muir broke forward before feeding Matty Yates and his shot from the edge of the box was tipped wide of his left hand post by the keeper.

Aaron Bryson then missed his third chance in a fifteen minute period, this time heading Kai Kennedy’s cross from the left over from close range. Credit to the Rangers striker as he was on the mark a minute later, Kai Kennedy played in Ciaran Dickson inside the left side of the box, the keeper got down to his left to make the save with Aaron Bryson well placed to knock the rebound into the net.

Rangers scored a fourth before the end of the period, when Kyle McClelland’s cross from the left was headed from the penalty area Kai Kennedy miscued his attempted volley but the ball landed at the feet of Matty Yates inside the left side of the box and he shot past the keeper. Rangers came close in the opening period of the final period, Euan Deveney moved the ball forward to Ciaran Dickson who sent Simon Millar through, he continued into the left side of the box where the keeper blocked with his legs at the near post.

A good turn by Matty Yates on the edge of the box almost took him clear, the ball broke to Owen McGinty who’s superb chip was just wide of the keeper’s right hand post. Within a minute Matty Yates sent Kai Kenndy through on this occasion the keeper stretched to save his attempted chip.

Kai Kennedy then attacked the left side of the penalty area where he was brought down and stepped up to convert from the spot. Rangers sixth goal came just after the final period turn around, Ciaran Dickson picking out Matty Yates run into the right side of the box from where he beat the keeper.

A Blair Rossiter header sent Kai Kennedy to the byline on the right, his cutback picked out Matty Yates with the keeper saving at point-blank range.  With eight minutes remaining the visitor’s broke into to the right side of Rangers penalty area and forced Lewis Budinauckas into a decent save low to his right. The scoring was completed when Ryan Muir broke forward and passed to Matty Yates who sent Simon Millar through to continue into the box and shoot past the keeper.
