Celtic 3 Rangers 0
Rangers went down to Celtic in this afternoon’s Development League game at a very windy Lennoxtown. The young Rangers side never troubled Leo Fasan in the Celtic goal as they were over powered by a more experienced and physically stronger home side.
With both side struggling to master the conditions goalmouth action was at a premium and there was over half an hour gone before there was a significant effort on goal. it came from a free-kick on the right, Charlie Mulgrew sent the ball towards the back post where Fiacre Kelleher headed wide. The home side made the breakthrough a minute before the break, Ryan Christie passed inside Ryan Sinnamon to release Calvin Miller on the left and his low cross was knocked past Robbie McCrorie by Aiden Nesbitt.
Before the half-time whistle Tony Ralston hit the byline on the right and it took a superb Ryan Sinnamon challenge to deny Ryan Christie at the back post.
Half-Time:- Celtic 1 Rangers 0
The second half was four minutes old when Celtic doubled their lead, Paul McMullen latched on to a poor Robbie McCrorie clearance, the Rangers keeper did well to parry his shot from deep inside the right side of the penalty area but the ball went straight to Ryan Christie who fired into the net. Within three minutes the homes scored again, with Rangers struggling to clear the ball from the penalty area it eventually fell for Aiden Nesbitt on the right side of the box and he shot across Robbie McCrorie and into the net.
Celtic were giving Rangers defence problems and when Paul McMullen attacked on the left he passed inside for Joe Thomson who forced a save from Robbie McCrorie. Just after the hour mark Paul McMullen and Aiden Nesbitt combined on the right side of the box to setup Ryan Christie and Robbie McCrorie got down to his right to save.
Rangers were rarely in the game as an attacking force and there were only four minutes left when Ryan Hardie attacked on the left but his low cross come shot was diverted behind by Fiacre Kelleher.
