Comfortable Development League Win

Rangers 2 Inverness CT 0

Rangers Development squad recorded a comfortable win against Inverness CT at Dumbarton tonight. When Dylan Dykes gave Rangers an early lead there was little doubt where the points were going, although with Robbie Crawford playing as a make shift striker the Ibrox youngsters never looked likely to boost their goal difference significantly.

Rangers took the lead with the first serious attack on seven minutes, Dylan Dykes exchanged passes with Josh Jeffries before beating Daniel Hoban low to his right with a shot from the edge of the box. The visitors threatened when Calum Ferguson got the better of Ross McCrorie when chasing a long ball into the right side of the penalty area with twin Robbie diving high to his right to make a decent save.

Rangers continued to dominate possession without really troubling Daniel Hoban in the Inverness goal, indeed it was the visitors that had Robbie McCrorie working just after the half-hour. Calum Howarth made the byline on the left and when his low cross was cleared outside the right side of the box it teed up perfectly Chris Brown to strike at goal with the Rangers keeper saving low to his left. On the stroke of half-time Fraser Aird fired in a powerful free-kick from the left side of the box but it was straight at Daniel Hoban who saved comfortably.

Half-Time:- Rangers 1 Inverness CT 0

Like the first half Rangers scored with the first real chance a couple of minutes before the hour, Robbie Crawford and Josh Jeffries worked a short corner on the right and moved the ball to Fraser Aird at the angle of the box, he picked out Robbie Crawford’s run into the box and the make shift striker fired past Daniel Hoban. The visitors carved out a chance as the game entered the final quarter-hour, Ali Sutherland sent Calum Ferguson through on goal but the shot was straight and Robbie McCrorie saved

With ten minutes remaining, Jordan Thompson and Ross Lyon combined to move the ball in from the right to set up a shooting chance from distance for Max Ashmore, again the shot was straight and Daniel Hoban saving comfortably.
