Rangers 6 Kilmarnock 1
Following on from last night’s Under 14’s win, Rangers Under 13’s made it a double over Kilmarnock with a comfortable win at Murray Park tonight. Rangers took the lead after eleven minutes, Billy Gilmour sent Nathan Patterson down the left he passed inside to Adedapo Mebude who moved it on to Kieran McKechnie on the right who hit the byline before cutting the ball back for Niyah Joseph to find the net from around twelve yards.
Around ten minutes later Niyah Joseph moved the ball across the box from left to right and opened up a chance for Kieran McKechnie with the Killie keeper saving low to his left. In the final minute of the period Ben Williams and Adedapo Mebude combined on the edge of the box to set up a chance for Kieran McKechnie coming in from the right, he knocked the ball past the keeper but a defender got back to clear from just in front of goal.
Midway through the second period Rangers doubled their lead, Billy Gilmour played in Dylan Patterson on the left side of the box, as he went round the keeper he was forced wide and when he shot across goal Niyah Joseph, with his back to goal managed to flick the ball past the keeper. Ten minutes later a corner from the left was delivered into the six yard box Dylan Patterson spun to volley past the keeper from close range.
The next chance came when Dylan Patterson’s pass freed Billy Gilmour on the left side of the penalty area with the Killie keeper saving his shot at the near post. Goal number four soon followed, Dylan Patterson curled a shot from the edge of the box that beat the keeper and came back off the keeper’s right hand post, Nathan Patterson collected the rebound and sidestepped a defender before firing into the net.
There was still time for the visitor’s to pull a goal back before the end of the period, when a corner from the right was cleared to the edge of the box Josh Walker’s shot gave Reece Murdoch no chance as it beat the keeper high to his left. Kilmarnock came close to a second at the start of the final period, the attack came into the Rangers penalty area from the right and Reece Murdoch was beaten by a powerful strike but the ball rebounded clear from the near post.
Rangers responded by increasing their lead, Nathan Patterson attacked down the right finding Niyah Joseph inside the box and he took a touch before slotting past the keeper. The sixth goal soon followed and it was a carbon copy of the fifth, created down the right by Nathan Patterson and his pass inside finished clinically by Niyah Joseph.
Killie had the final chance when the ball came in from the right the shot from the edge of the box looked netbound until Reece Murdoch leapt to his left to clutch the ball and deny the visitor’s with a fine save.
