16’s Lose To Killie

A Rangers under 16’s side that included four trialists lost to Kilmarnock in a friendly at Murray Park tonight. The first real chance came on thirteen minutes when Lewis White hit the byline on the left, when he cut the ball back Max Ashmore shot over.

Three minutes later a long-range Ross Lyon effort was just wide of the keeper’s right hand post. After a similar period the Trialist No.8 passed the ball forward to the  Trialist No 11 who hit the byline on the left, his drive across goal found no takers.

From a Max Ashmore corner from the right Jason Krones rose to head goalwards with the Killie keeper  pawing the ball away from under the crossbar. Rangers took the lead just three minutes short of the half-hour, Lewis White hit the byline on the left and this time his cutback was fired past the keeper by Trialist No.8.

Trialist No.11’s pass inside the full-back sent Lewis White heading to the left byline again and from his cutback Trialist No. 9 forced the keeper to dive to his right to parry.  As half-time approached Liam Burt’s shot from the edge of the box was spilled by the keeper but Kyle Clark could only knock the rebound wide of the keeper’s right hand post.

Just before the whistle Rangers lost possession in midfield and one pass sent the striker through the inside right channel and he continued into the box to shoot past the trialist keeper.

With just over ten minutes of the second half gone Rangers took the lead, Ross Lyon passed to Trialist No. 11 inside the boxa superb touch took him clear of a defender giving the space to shoot past the keeper. Kilmarnock equalised on sixty-five minutes, the attack came on the right, Lewis White dived in and when the attacker crossed it was converted at the back post.

The visitor’s took the lead with eleven minutes remaining, when a free-kick on the right near halfway was sent into the box the Rangers keeper and defence was hesitant and the Killie player rose unchallenged to head into the net. Two minutes later Killie made the game safe when their player was fouled just inside the box the penalty was duly converted.
