Rangers 1 Hibernian 1

A goal two minutes from time gave Rangers under 16’s a draw at Murray Park tonight. There was over twenty minutes gone before we seen the first real chance of the match, it was created on the Hibernian right and when the ball was passed inside the shot from the edge of the box clipped Jamie Wilson’s crossbar on the way over. Just before the half hour some good play on the byline on the left by Ally ????? saw him lay the ball back to Adam Wilson who shot just over.

A few minutes later Hibs hit Rangers with a quick break down the right, a first time pass inside sent the striker through, as Jamie Wilson advanced from his line he knocked it past the keeper but wide of his right hand post.

Half-Time:-Rangers 1 Hibernian 1

Six minutes into the second half Rangers missed a great chance to take the lead, Sam Liddington sent Andy McKinnon down the left his pass inside found Hussein Kaware in space but he took too long to get the ball under control and fired over. The visitors were immediately on attack down the other end and it took a brave Jamie Wilson save at the Hibs player’s feet to thwart the danger.

A minute later the Rangers keeper was helpless when Hibs attacked through the middle and he watched in relief as the shot came back off his right hand post. Almost immediately Nathan Gallagher was caught in possession twenty-five yards from his own goal and the Hibs player sent an unstoppable shot past Jamie Wilson and into the top corner.

The home side were unlucky not to draw level on the hour, Max Ashmore broke forward and passed to Dylan Stevenson on the right, he continued his run to collect the return pass and sent a shot of the right hand post with the keeper beaten. Hibs replied a couple of minutes later with an attack down the right, when tha ball came into the box it took a superb Michael Mossie challenge to divert the ball for a corner. When the corner came in from the left it was missed by a Rangers defender at the near post and only a great reaction save from Jamie Wilson kept the ball out of the net.

As the final ten minutes neared Rangers moved the ball from Ross Lyon on the right through Max Ashmore and Josh Jeffries to Sam Liddington who sent a shot from distance onto the bar and over. With three minutes remaining an enterprising run from full-back by Steven Chatterton took past a couple of defenders before he shot just wide of the keeper’s left hand post. Sixty seconds later Rangers were handed a lifeline when the Hibs keeper picked up a pass back, the free-kick was central and a yard or so inside the box, Michael Mossie tapped to the side and Steven Chatterton drove the ball through a crowd of defenders into the net.
