Under 20’s Win

Rangers 2 Dunfermline Athletic 1

A Callum Gallagher double was enough to give Rangers victory over Dunfermline Athletic at Murray Park this afternoon. It was a young Rangers side with only Scott Gallagher over age and the Kyle McAusland returning from injury being the only under 20 player  against what was also what appeared to be a very young Dunfermline side. Craig Halkett also made his first appearance of the season following injury.

Rangers took the lead after only eight minutes, when the ball was moved to Kris Gibson in midfield his pass sent Callum Gallagher through on the right side of the box, he held of the defender before firing past the keeper from just inside the penalty area. The home side came close to increasing their lead on twenty-five minutes when Kyle MCausland rose to head Fraser Aird’s corner from the right goalwards with a Dunfermline defender clearing from the line.

Rangers increased their lead on the hour mark, when the ball came into the box from the left it broke off a defender to Callum Gallgher who took his time to pick his spot and pass the ball wide of the keeper and into the bottom corner of the net. Ten minutes later the visitors pulled a goal back via the penalty spot. The Dunfermline player broke into the left hand side of the penalty area and was brought down by Gregor Fotheringham for a clear penalty that was duly despatched past Scott Gallagher.

With ten minutes remaining a ball over the top gave the visitors another chance on the left hand side of the box which Scott Gallagher  saved. Rangers immediately broke to the other end with an attack down the left and Gloady Ntumba headed Jordan Wilson’s cross narrowly over.
