Hawick Royal Albert 0 Rangers 8
A sunny Sunday afternoon in August, what better way to spend it than watching Rangers play in the Scottish Borders. A young Gers side hit eight against East of Scotland First Division side Hawick Royal Albert, the scorline perhaps reflecting the quality of the opposition.
Rangers took the lead in the opening minute, the home side failed to clear Kal Naismith’s corner from the right and in the ensuing scramble Luca Gasparotto forced the ball over the line from close range. At this point the home side defended stoutly and it was midway through the half before Rangers came close again, Andy Murdoch and Callum Gallagher combined on the left side of the box to set up a shooting chance for Kal Naismith and the midfielder’s shot came back of the keeper’s right hand post.
A minute later Luca Gasparotto came close to doubling his tally when he got his head to Kal Naismith’s corner with the home keeper doing well to keep his effort out. He was to do better that a couple of minutes later, Kal Naismith progressed on the right and his cross found it way to Andy Murdoch who’s powerful shot was parried wide for a corner. Next to try his luck was Kamil Wiktorski, when Matty Clarke passed the ball inside the Polish midfielder’s shot from full thirty yards was just too high.
The second goal eventually came, a couple of minutes after the half-hour. Ryan Sinnamon was sent clear on the right, he went past the full-back before cutting the ball back to Robbie Crawford who calmly slotted past the keeper. With just over five minutes of the half remaining Rangers scored again, a good passing move involving several players saw the ball moved out to Ryan Sinnamon on the right, and his cross was headed past the keeper by Callum Gallagher.
The visitor’s looked like scoring with almost every attack and a couple of minutes later they scored again, Andy Murdoch sent Robbie Crawford clear on the left and when he reached the byline he laid the ball back to Matty Clarke who sent in a wicked cross which Callum Gallagher rose to head into the net.

It took Rangers only two minutes to add to their tally after the break, Andy Murdoch sent a cross into the box which was superbly controlled by Callum Gallagher and just as he was about to pull the trigger he was bundled over for a clear penalty, the striker slotted the spot kick past the keeper to complete his hat-trick. Just before the hour mark substitute Jamie Burrows worked a one-two with Andy Murdoch and was clear inside the box but the Hawick keeper managed to divert his effort wide.
Jamie Burrows then took on the role of creator his superb cross field pass from right to left sent Robbie Crawford clear to advance into the box and fire home number six. Number seven came with just under a quarter of an hour on the clock, an exchange of passes between Gregor Fotheringham, Jamie Burrows and Ryan Sinnamon sent the latter to the byline on the right, with Dylan Dykes making a near post run to flick his cross past the keeper.
As the game entered the final five minutes the scoring was complete, and it had similarities to the previous goal. This time Ryan Sinnamon sent Jamie Burrows to the byline on the right and when his low cross came in the run was made by Jordan Wilson to prod the ball into the net.
