17’s Win At ‘Well

Motherwell 0 Rangers 2

A first-half  double from Gloady Ntumba gave Rangers a comfortable win at Dalziel Park tonight, Rangers didn’t look like adding to their tally too often and at the other end Liam Kelly was rarely troubled.

Rangers took the lead after quarter of an hour, Lewis Morgan won the ball on the right and passed inside to Charlie Telfer who’s superb pass found Tom Walsh on the left hand angle of the box, he cut inside and fired at goal, the Motherwell keeper parried but the ball went straight to Gloady Ntumba who knocked the ball into the empty net. Just before the half-hour Tom Walsh sent the ball to Lewis Morgan out on the right, when the ‘Well defender challenged the ball broke to Ryan Sinnamon who shot across goal and wide of the far post.

Five minutes later Rangers increased their lead, Charlie Telfer swung in a free-kick from the left to find Gloady Ntumba who glanced a header past the keeper.

The second half started with Motherwell forcing a couple of corners but none of them produced a clear scoring opportunity, at the other end more than an hour had passed when Charlie Telfer latched on to a poor clearance from the Motherwell keeper but his shot was just wide of the right hand post.

With ten minutes remaining Gloady Ntumba came close to grabbing his hat-trick, when Scott Lochrie passed to the Rangers striker at the edge of the box he went past a defender and powered a shot a goal, it was just too straight and the keeper managed to parry the ball over the bar. Less than sixty seconds later Andy Murdoch broke forward to try his luck from the edge of the box and was only just wide of the right hand post.
