Sunderland Visit Murray Park

Rangers 1 Sunderland 2

A late goal condemned Rangers 14’s to defeat in a game of two forty minute halves at Murray Park this afternoon. Rangers included three 1997’s in their starting lineup, the visitor’s dominated the first half with the second half being a reversal of the first before Sunderland grabbed their late winner.

Sunderland’s neat passing game saw them dominate possession in the first half without threatening to score too often. The first real chance game just before the half hour when Sunderland attacked on the left hand side of the penalty area with Jamie Wilson diving to his left to save. Rangers tried to reply with an attack of their own on the left, on this occasion Hussain Kaware dragged his shot across goal and wide of the far post.

The visitors took the lead five minutes before the break, Rangers were caught out by a short corner on the right and when the cross came into the box the striker’s run to the near post saw him head past Jamie Wilson into the net.

Rangers almost got back on level terms in the opening minute of the second half, Hussain Kaware coming in from the right side of the box saw his shot deflected wide of the far post. They did get back on level terms just before the hour and there was a touch of luck about the goal, Reece ????? went past the full-back on the right and his attempted cross sailed over the keeper into the top corner of the net.

When Rangers were awarded a free-kick midway inside the Sunderland half a great spot and pass from Jamie Brandon found Reece ????? free inside the box, but he failed to connect properly and the keeper save comfortably. In the final ten minutes Robbie Crawford passed to Jamie Brandon and another fine pass inside the full back found Lewis White breaking into the left hand side of the box with the visitor’s keeper coming off his line to save.

With a couple of minutes remaining a neat interchange of passes opened Rangers up and and from deep inside the penalty area the shot on goal produced a fine save from Jamie Wilson diving to his left, with the Rangers defence missing a couple  of opportunities to clear the Sunderland player fired through a crowded six yard box into the net.
