Rangers 4 Newcastle City 1

A Rangers side made up of a mix of Under 14’s and 15’s took on the Under 15’s side from top North East of England boys club Newcastle City Juniors. It was their first visit to Murray Park but they have been regular visitors to Scotland playing the academy teams of Celtic, Hearts and Hamilton Accies.

Rangers took the lead when Andy Biddulph challenged in the air and when the ball broke a mistake by the central defender allowed the Trialist No.7 a run on goal, he got a break of the ball at the edge of the box before shooting past the keeper. The second goal came after good work on the right by Andy Biddulph, he left the defender for dead and hit the byline, his ball across goal was missed under pressure by Gloady Ntumba but Scott Lochhead was on hand to calmly beat the keeper.

The visitors replied after a break down the left, as they made their way into the box the Rangers defence seemed to have won possession but the ball broke back to the Newcastle player and he shot past the trialist keeper. Rangers restored their two goal lead pretty quickly, Scott Lochhead and Kjeld McIntyre combined on the right, when the keeper came for the latter’s cross Gloady Ntumba knocked the ball into the empty net.

Scoring was complete when Gloady Ntumba collected a pass inside the box, side-stepped a defender and beat the keeper from around twelve yards.
