Youths Poor Run Continues

Rangers 0 Celtic 3

Rangers Under 19’s suffered their third consecutive league defeat at the hands of arch rivals Celtic at Murray Park this morning.  Two goals down after only thirteen minutes it became an uphill struggle that they never looked like over coming.

Celtic took the lead after only five minutes, Darren Cole lost out in an aerial challenge and when the ball landed at the edge of the penalty box Callum McGregor got there before Wayne Drummond to lob the Rangers keeper into the empty net. Eight minutes later the visitors scored again, with the Rangers defence all over the place in the early stages Tony Watt was allowed to twist and turn inside the box before shooting past Drummond.

Rangers were offering little in way of attack and their first effort of any note came on the half-hour, Gordon Dick’s corner from the right was cleared to the edge of the box where Robbie Crawford fired a powerful shot straight at Nick Feely.

Six minutes after the break things got worse for the home side Watt got passed Crawford too easily on the right and his cross had Drummond flapping, he could only palm the ball straight to Patrick Twardzik who shot past the stranded keeper from around the penalty spot.

Celtic continued to control the game without really threatening to add to their tally. With Rangers only effort of note coming nine minutes from time, Kal Naismith controlling Crawford’s cross from the left on his chest at the edge of the box before shooting wide of Feely’s left hand post.
