Rangers 0 Hibernian 1

Rangers Under 16’s lost an entertaining game by a single goal to Hibs at Murray Park last night. It was the Ibrox youngsters that threatened first on ten minutes, Greg Pascazio heading a Charlie Telfer corner goalwards only to see it cleared off the line.

A few minutes later and the Hibs keeper saved comfortably from a long-range Darren Ramsay effort. On 18 minutes Telfer sent a superb pass out left to Ciaran Summers who cut inside and fired a 25 yard shot just over.

The first chance for the visitors came midway through the half via a shot from the left hand angle of the box which Sam George saved easily. The Rangers keeper had to look sharp a few minutes later, coming off his line to save at the attacker’s feet.

The second half continued to entertain without seeing many clear-cut chances at either end. Just after the hour mark a Telfer corner from the right was cleared to the edge of the box, where Paul Kane looked to have miss hit his shot, but the Hibs keeper had to save just under his bar as it almost looped in.

A few minutes later and Hibs grabbed what would prove to be the winner. Sam George  produced a fine save, touching a long-range effort over the bar, from the resulting corner the Hibs player got a free header, which beat the Rangers defenders on the goal line. A minute later and they really should have doubled their lead, a cross from the left was chested down and just when it looked like the striker would score he fired over.

With fifteen minutes left a great passing move involving Paul Kane, Ciaran Summers and Tom Walsh set up a shooting chance for Charlie Telfer which just went wide. Rangers final chance came with five minutes left, Ciaran Summers broke forward from midfield past a defender and shot narrowly past.
