Irish Visitors To Murray Park

Rangers entertained three youth teams from Ireland over the weekend, on Saturday the 17’s took on Home Farm’s under 18’s from Dublin, on Sunday the under 16’s played a select from the North Dublin Schoolboys League and the under 15’s entertained Lisburn Distillery.

Rangers 5 NDSL Select 0

Rangers with five under 15’s in the side, got off to a whirlwind start and where three goals up within the opening ten minutes. The first came on two minutes when Darren Ramsay crossed from the right and Paul Kane was on hand to head past the keeper. Five minutes later and a good run from midfield by Darren McGill saw him play a one-two with Ramsay and advance into the box to make it 2-0.

Rangers scored their third on ten minutes when a Ramsay pass sent Paul Kane clear to beat the keeper. Rangers came close to a fourth on 19 minutes when McGill  played the ball to Charlie Telfer he beat a defender before firing a shot off the keeper’s right hand post.

Credit to the visitors as they settled after the poor start and threatened the Rangers goal before the break. On 37 minutes a cross from the right was headed against the crossbar with Liam Kelly beaten. Three minutes later and Kelly produced a fine save, touching a drive from the edge of the box on to the bar and over.

The Dublin side came close five minutes after the break when a shot from out on the left touch-line only went just wide. Rangers were back on the attack and the substitutes combined when Jack Donaldson setup Ciaran Summers but the visitor’s keeper was quick off his line to block.

Just on the hour mark Liam Kelly produced another fine save, he seemed unsighted when the striker shot from the edge of the box, but he dived low to his left to turn the ball wide for a corner. Three minutes later Rangers increased their lead, a fine through ball from Andy Murdoch sent PaulKane through to slot past the keeper.

On 73 minutes the scoring was complete when Ryan Sinnamon won the ball at the edge of the box and when the ball broke to Paul Kanehe gave the keeper no chance with a great right foot shot.

Rangers 4 Distillery 1

In the other game today Rangers ran out comfortable winners against what I believe was a slightly side. Goals from Gloady Ntumba, Kjeld McIntyre (2) and Lewis Morgan had them well in command before Distillery pulled one back in the final minute.

Rangers Squad:- Scott McAuley (GK), Dylan Dykes, Lewis Spence, Jack Baird, Lewis Martin, Kjeld McIntyre, Johnny Bradley, Gloady Ntumba, Lewis Morgan, Luke Hammond and a Trialist.

Rangers 2 Home Farm 0

On Saturday the under 17’s had a 2-0 win over Home Farm.

Rangers took the lead through a close range effort from Scott Rumsby following a corner. Then a superb Sam McMahon striker made it two, he chased a ball down the right channel and when the keeper came out to meet him he produced a superb lob from almost on the touch-line, over the keeper and into the net.
