Livingston Friendly

Rangers 0 Livingston 3

With their league game postponed due to Aberdeen’s involvement in the youth cup this weekend, Rangers under 19’s lost to a Livingston reserve side at Murray Park this afternoon. Mark Weir made a rare start in goal. with Kal Naismith and a trialist replacing Rhys McCabe and Scott Durie from the side that won away to Kilmarnock last week.

They had a great chance to take an early lead when Archie Campbell was through but he was denied when keeper Craig McDowell handled outside the box. Kal Naismith had a go from the resultant free Kick shooting just over.

Livingston took the lead on 12 minutes when Tony McParland lobbed the ball over the Rangers defence and Mark McNulty beat Weir from inside the box. A few minutes later Darren Cole lost possession at the edge of the box and Weir saved at the feet of McNulty. A minute later Kyle Hutton’s headed clearance only went to Sheldon Jacobs and his shot from the edge of the box was deflected on to the cross bar.

Ten minutes before half time Livingston doubled their lead, Kyle Jacobs broke down the left and his ball in to the box found Cameron McDonald who scored from around 8 yards. Five minutes later and the Jacobs brothers combination almost produced a third. Sheldon found Kyle free inside the penalty area but Kyle’s effort went wide.

Midway through the second half Rangers almost pulled a goal back. Dylan McGeough’s corner from the left was knocked towards goal by Christiano Kisuka and with keeper McDowell beaten Sheldon Jacobs cleared of the line. Livingston then went straight up the other end and increased their lead. McParland’s free kick from the left found Kyle Jacobs unmarked and he headed past Weir.

With eight minutes remaining a great run and pass by McGeough sent Kisuka clear but he shot  into the side netting.
